RELATED: Subnautica Below Zero: Best Mods Some of these locations are pretty dangerous, even if the Reefback itself is a fairly friendly creature, so players should be sure to tread carefully. They can be found in the following biomes: These creatures are Cathemeral, meaning they are active both day and night. The Reefback Leviathans and their silver-holding barnacles also have many different native locations across the ocean depths. The Bone Fields, Ghost Forest, Tree Cove, and Mountains Corridor sub-biomes of Lost River While these are the best places to find sandstone outcrops, they can also be found in the following locations: The sandstone outcrops, for example, can be found in many different biomes, but they are most commonly spotted in the Kelp Forest and Grassy Plateaus. The sandstone outcrops, large resource deposits, and barnacle harvesting nodes appear in several different locations across Planet 4546B. These barnacles can be harvested primarily for copper however, there is a small chance that the barnacle will yield silver ore. Thankfully, these are passive leviathans that won't try to attack. Lastly, players can harvest the barnacles on the back of Reefback Leviathans. They require the Prawn Suit Drill Arm to harvest. There are many types of these resource deposits, including gold, silver, nickel, lead, quartz, and others. These are large clusters of a single material that are scattered throughout the world. Secondly, silver ore can be found in large resource deposits. RELATED: Subnautica: Below Zero: Scariest Creatures In The Game, Ranked Lead and gold can also be found in these outcrops. Sandstone outcrops are small mineral deposits characterized by their light brown coloring. This is how most players will likely find silver ore in the early stages of the game. Firstly, it can be found in sandstone outcrops. That was a factor in my recommendations above. There are three forms in which silver ore can be found throughout the biomes of Planet 4546B. Basically sticking within the areas that the story leads you to early on. You can't stop this, it is inherent to the game and you can cope, but you can delay it / limit it in the early game by choosing carefully where you explore early. Reasonably close to map center, but more dangerous.Īll the other magnetite bearing biomes and sub-biomes are further away, deeper, more dangerous, and / or require drilling.īe aware that by the time you are gathering magnetite, you may be venturing into areas that can ramp an increasing level of Warper aggro/interest. The underwater slopes of the Mountain Island can yield a small amount of magnetite, if you can spot it. That area is also lousy with magnetite, and not too inherently dangerous, but confusing. Next best gathering locale is the dry caves on / in the Mountain Island. Relay some power from Solar if necessary, or also drop an MPR with a Bio. Take the time to drop a Scanner Room nearby. Take the Seamoth down there with a couple of Hull Reinforcements, and a repair tool, and kill the first few Crabsnakes by ramming, to make a relatively safe area. In fact, you can often gather enough for initial tool purposes just within the quite safe entrance areas. The other mineral commonly available in the dry caves mentioned below is not magnetite, it is lithium crystals.Īll other tips in this post remain correct.Įasiest, relatively safest general location for magnetite is Jellyschroom Cave. So I just ran an instance to check it out. Edit: My sincere apologies to any new ( or old) players who tried to rely on my 2nd choice gathering locale below.
